Biography

Barry Arrington earned a B.B.A. in 1983 from the University of Texas at Arlington. That year he passed the C.P.A. exam with one of the ten highest scores among the 9,600 Texas candidates sitting for the exam and began practicing public accounting with the international accounting firm Ernst & Whinney (n/k/a Ernst & Young).

Mr. Arrington left public accounting to attend the University of Texas School of Law, from which he graduated with honors in 1986. He was admitted to the Colorado bar in 1987 and has practiced law in the Denver area since then.

Mr. Arrington was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 1997 to 1998. He was the co-founder of Jefferson Academy, one of the most successful charter schools in the state, and a former member of the board of trustees and Secretary/Treasurer of the Independence Institute, a Golden, Colorado-based free market think tank. He is also a past president of the Rocky Mountain Family Council and the Colorado Coalition for Children and Families.

Mr. Arrington's practices in the following areas: civil litigation in the state and federal courts, business formation, non-profit law, transactions and contracts, school law, real estate, bankruptcy, and constitutional law, especially in the area of First Amendment freedoms.
