Wheat Ridge Child Custody Lawyer | Angelina Jolie Under Fire for Keeping Kids from Brad Pitt

hands-2065507_640.pngChild custody is ALWAYS about what is in the best interest of the children. You may not agree with what your children's other parent or even the judge feels is in their best interest, but a judge will make any determinations based on what is in the best interest of the child. Actress Angelina Jolie is currently at risk for losing custody of her children after a judge ruled that she is keeping them from their father, Brad Pitt. The judge put provisions in place to make sure at least 4 of the kids have time and access to their dad. The judge ordered the Angelina to give each of the kids a cell phone, that is not to be monitored, to which Brad can call or text anytime. A new schedule was also put in place, where Pitt gets more parenting time - and Jolie is not allowed to interfere or be present during this time. As is sometimes the case, when one parent feels that the children should not spend time with the other, they will keep them apart.

Parental Alienation and Refusal to Follow Child Custody Orders in Jefferson County

There are always two sides to every story. Usually in these cases, one parent feels that it is not safe or healthy for the children to spend time with the other parent. The non-custodial parent feels alienated from the children and wants to do what they can to rectify the situation. This is often where the court will become involved. A Jefferson County Court Judge will want the kids to have a relationship with their father as long as it is healthy for the child. In the Jolie and Pitt case, there must have been some allegations that the children were not safe, because the judge put specific provisions surrounding the parenting time that Pitt gets. For example, he will have 1 or 2 of the kids at a time for a four hour block each day for a 9-day period. He will have to spend time with each of the four kids during this time. Then, he will have them for overnights, where a doctor will evaluate them every few days to document their health. While these types of stipulations are not common for every case, the judge can make special requests the ensure the health and safety of the children, while allowing them to have a relationship with both parents.
