Experience:

Sandra is an experienced attorney and mediator who has specialized in family law, divorce, probate, contracts, unemployment law, and other general practice legal matters since 1983.  Sandra started her career as an Administrative Hearing Officer for the Colorado Division of Labor and Employment.  She is a sole practitioner joining Pearman Law Firm as Of Counsel.

Although Sandra is oriented to out-of-the box thinking and to finding mutual solutions, she is a fierce advocate for her clients and is a tough and aggressive negotiator who gets results. She values good relationships with clients and seeks to understand their needs and values in order to develop better solutions. While resolving issues is the goal, preparing for court and trial is often a necessity. Sandra discusses applicable law and explores risks and benefits with each client while strategizing the best ways to achieve client goals. These discussions focus on “conscious decision-making” where clients are encouraged to make decisions from positions of power rather than reaction or surrender.

Background:

Sandra was born in Colorado and graduated from Adams City High School, Colorado Women’s College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in French. She spent a year studying in Geneva, Switzerland and travelling around Europe with a backpack.  She then graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver with an emphasis in International Law in 1980, serving as editor of the International Law Journal and President of the International Law Society. She has travelled extensively.

Sandra has been a voluntary citizen monitor of the clean-up of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Superfund site since 1986 when high levels of TCE were reported in the drinking water in Commerce City and continues to be active in this endeavor. Sandra has served as a founding member and Chairperson of three citizen advisory boards: Citizens Against Contamination (1986), the Rocky Mountain Arsenal (RMA) Site Specific Advisory Board (SSAB) (1992) and the Rocky Mountain Arsenal (RMA) Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) (1994). She also served on the citizen advisory board of the Shattuck Superfund site.  Sandra is a Board Member and volunteer for Alignment Technologies and Higher Alignment, teaching methods to develop more aligned relationships, conscious decision-making, and Common Neutral Ground.  Sandra is also a member of MDIC, the Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Counsel.
