The family is regarded as an institution of nurturing and personal growth. While small issues may be settled easily, serious disputes can often escalate into family legal issues. In Colorado, for example, divorce is an option for couples whose marriages have become impossible.
According to the latest statistics, the percentage of divorce cases in the United States has continued to decrease. However, a large percentage of marriages still end in divorce. In comparison, data from the 1980s showed an approximate 50 percent divorce rate-the highest ever-which has slowly decreased over time. Presently, the rate is a little over 40 percent.
The study suggests that raising children adds responsibility and stress to family life. Couples need to agree about how they will raise their children. It is very important to get both parents involved. Contrary to the previous statement, couples with children where both parents play a significant role in raising them are less likely to divorce than those who do not have children. The statistics confirm that shared parenting is a key to keeping the marriage intact. However, that is not the case in all marriages. Some marriages have so much conflict that the only resolution may be to end the relationship.
Family law covers every aspect of family life. While there is a decrease in divorce filings, some married people may find that their marital problems have led to a desire to end their marriages.
If a person is a part of a troubled marriage, he or she may want to consider all available options, including divorce.
